Top 5 Features of Huawei P9

Camera

Huawei P9 signature feature is its camera. It comes with 12MP dual camera which is co engineered by Leica, the globally renowned manufacturer of cameras and sport optics. The two 12MP camera sensors are placed side by side. One of them being a normal RGB sensor and the other being a monochrome one. The colour sensor captures the colours information of the scene, and the monochrome sensor captures more light and details. Software then takes the information from both the sensors and creates a single colour image.

The two lenses also gives better depth of field perception which allows you to refocus on different part of the picture after the shot is taken. The camera on Huawei P9 has hybrid auto focus system. What it means is that, it uses laser and phase detection auto focus methods together. Apart from this, P9 also supports RAW format pictures, long exposure night shots and pro-shooting modes.

Power and Performance

Huawei P9 is powered by all new Kirin 955 chipset with flagship FinFET Plus 16nm chip technology which is said to offer much better performance compared to previous generation 28nm chipsets. This octa core processor has 4 Cortex A72 cores clocked at 2.5GHz and 4 Cortex A53 cores clocked at 1.8GHz.

The powerful Mali-T880 GPU ensures seamless gaming experience with 100% increase in GPU performance with the inclusion of an additional arithmetic pipeline allowing for greater computation. It also has rapid eMMC 5.1 based flash memory chip. Running on latest EMUI 4.1 OS on top of Android 6.0, it offers smooth user experience.

Triple Antennas for seamless connectivity

Huawei P9 comes with a virtual triple antenna technology. It provides better signal reception irrespective of the position you hold your phone. Better RF performance system automatically switches to the antenna with the best signal to prevent dropped calls.

Fingerprint identification 2.0

Huawei P9 has 2nd generation Swedish designed FPC fingerprint sensor which is promised to unlock the screen in just 0.5 seconds. This fingerprint scanner is designed such away that, it learns more about your fingerprint as you use it and prevents failed identification caused by wet hands or partial fingerprints.

Fingerprint scanner on Huawei P9 has Replay Protected Memory Block(RPMB) technology which encrypts and stores fingerprint data in a separate secure storage area. This ensures, fingerprint data cannot be accessed even if the phone is rooted.

Display

Huawei P9 sports 5.2 inch full HD(1920×1080 pixel) display screen with 423 ppi pixel density. It has 10 point multi touch support with manual colour temperature controls. The screen has 2.5D Corning Gorilla glass protection. It has screen to body ratio of 72.9%. The fully laminated LTPS GFF screen has less reflection.

Huawei Consumer Business Group (BG) is honored to announce that the Huawei P9 has been named ‘European Consumer Smartphone 2016-17’ by the European Image and Sound Association (EISA). Furthering its commitment to pursuing the best quality and design without compromise, this is the fourth consecutive year that Huawei has been recognized in this category.

Designed to reinvent smartphone photography, the Huawei P9 is the first smartphone co-engineered with the global iconic brand, Leica Camera AG. - Redmi Note 3: It measures 76x150x8.65 mm and weighs 164 g
- Vibe K5 Note: It measures 75.7x152x8.49 mm and weighs 165 grams
In Terms of design and build quality, both devices feature good build quality. The dimensions and weight also almost identical. However, if we observe closely, though K5 Note has metal back, the sides (Space between back and display screen) are made up of plastic. Even the buttons are plastic. Whereas Redmi Note 3 is all metal.

- Redmi Note 3: 5.5 inch full HD display screen.
- Vibe K5 Note: 5.5 inch full HD display screen.
Display panel quality Wise, both device are good. The differences are negligible. Both device does not comes with Corning Gorilla Glass protection.

Both devices are available in two variants.
- Redmi Note 3: 1.4GHz hexa core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 with 2GB/3GB of RAM, Android 5.1 Lollipop.
- Vibe K5 Note: 1.8GHz Octa Core 64 Bit Helio P10 SoC with 3GB/4GB of RAM, Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
In this comparison, we are comparing 3GB RAM variants of both the devices. The day to day performance is decent on Vibe K5 Note as well as Redmi Note 3. However, when it comes to gaming, Vibe K5 Note struggles a bit when we play high end games in higher settings. Also with extended gaming, it tends to heat up on the screen area.

Vibe K5 Note comes with Android Marshmallow out of the box whereas Redmi Note 3 comes with Android Lollipop. Here K5 Note has advantages, However in general, Xiaomi is faster in providing security patch updates compared to Lenovo.

It is sad to see, more and more companies are adopting the hybrid sim card slot. Unlike its predecessor, Vibe K5 Note comes with hybrid sim card slot. Hence you cannot use 2 sim cards and microSD card simultaneously. You need to compromise on your second sim card or the microSD card. Luckily, both variants of Vibe K5 Note comes with 32GB( Around 24GB is available for the user) of internal storage which might be enough for most of the users.

No Corning Gorilla Glass protection

Device does not feature Corning Gorilla Glass protection layer. Lenovo is bundling a screen guard on the box to protect the screen from scratches.

No earphones out of the box

If you are expecting a earphone with this device, then you will be disappointed. You will not get earphone with this device. If you need one, need to buy separately.

No slow motion video recording and manual settings

It is not a big drawback of Vibe K5 Note 5. But you need to be aware that, you will not be getting the option of slow motion video recording and manual settings.

Lot of preinstalled apps

The device comes with lot of bloatwares. However, you have the option to remove it which is good move from Lenovo.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 Review-Pros and Cons
Samsung has got good response to its Galaxy J series smartphones. AMOLED display screen, decent camera and battery life are key attractions of these smartphones. In this post, we will have a quick look into Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 Review with pros and Cons.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 is made up of plastic. However, it has matte metal strip covering in the sides. With the dimensions of 72.3×145.8×8.1 mm and weighs 158 grams, overall it feels good for a single handed usage.

Galaxy J5 2016 is powered by 1.2GHz Quad core Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 410 chipset with 2GB of RAM and Adreno 305 GPU. The day to day performance, I have not faced any lag. Games like Asphalt 8 can playable but in medium settings. In high settings, there is a minor frame drops. It runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow with custom UI on top of it. The device is getting regular security updates which is welcome move from Samsung. It has 16GB of internal storage in which around 10.8Gb of storage available for the users. It also supports microSD card.

Samsung Galaxy J5(6) sports 5.2 inch super AMOLED display screen with 720p resolution. Though there are many devices available in this price segment which has 1080p resolution, display on this device is surprisingly decent.

Galaxy J5(6) houses 13MP CMOS sensor with wide f/1.9 aperture and a single LED flash. The front camera is a 5MP unit with f/1.9 aperture and a dedicated LED flash. In well lit conditions, camera performance is good. Though colours look little over saturated, images taken are sharp and contains decent details. In low light, the Galaxy J5 6 camera struggles a bit.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 houses Li-ion 3100 mAh battery which in our test lasted for more than a day. The connectivity features of the device includes 4G, 3G, 2G, WiFi, Bluetooth, WiFi hotspot, USB tethering and microUSB.

Samsung Galaxy J5 2016 review summary: In the below 15k price segment, there are many smartphones with much better specification than this are available such as LeEco Le 2, Redmi Note 3, Lenovo Vibe k5 Note etc. What sets apart Galaxy J5 2016 from the rest is availability of proper dual sim card slots with dedicated microSD card support, removable battery and most importantly timely availability of security patch updates.
